Description
This cabinet display, near the front entrance to the Museum, was designed to provide a presentation of a wide assortment of medical instruments from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Featured are metal and glass syringes, surgical instruments including curettes, a 19th century trephine (for drilling a small hole in the skull to relieve pressure), a hand-crank steel surgical drill (left bottom shelf), and a pediatric sterling silver tracheostomy tube (left top shelf) are notable examples, among the many artifacts, for this three-shelf cabinet.
