Description
The three mannequins displayed in the northernmost window of the Museum are designed to illustrate mid-20th century changes for the American Nursing Uniforms. To the left is a student nursing pinafore used by the Jackson Memorial School of Nursing (1950-Miami, FL), a three-year diploma nursing program. In the middle is a traditional starched white nursing uniform provided by a graduate of the Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (1955-Baltimore, MD). On the far right is a 1970s style white jumpsuit from a graduate of the Niagara University School of Nursing (New York). Today, the vast majority of Nursing attire is in the form of scrub shirt and pants in a color that may be specified by the employer for a hospital or other clinical setting. Nursing caps are rarely worn today.
