Description

The circular display at the center of the Museum recreates a 1920s era operating room, including the surgical table and side tables with surgical instrumentation, steam sterilizer, and the inhalational anesthetic masks for the period that administered primarily Ether and Chloroform. A 1928 Ohio Medical Operay explosion-proof light, which provides a shadow-free operative field lighting, hangs above the display. An identical unit was used in the original Lee Memorial Hospital and later in the Jones Walker Hospital from the 1920s through the late 1960s.

Supplemental file shows an alternate view of the display.
