Description
The bottom shelf provides models and artifacts of contemporary Cardiac Interventions. To the left is a model and QR code for the Watchman Procedure that enables closure of the left atrial appendage, in patients with Atrial Fibrillation, that does not respond to conventional cardiology management. At the center is a Coronary Orbital Atherectomy System used in the Cath lab to treat calcified (hardened) legions within a coronary artery utilizing a high-speed grinding procedure. The microscopic dust created by this intervention can then be safely metabolized by the body’s own immune system. To the right of this instrument, is a storyboard and QR code for the Trans Aortic Valve Replacement procedure (TAVR). This procedure enables the replacement of a malfunctioning Aortic valve using a minimally invasive procedure. Finally, an acknowledgment of the 6 professionals who contributed to the development and installation of this display, completes the exhibit.
