Description
The Orthopedics Display is located within the 6th Floor public elevator access corridor. These artifacts are organized to display five important features for the evolution of practice for the medical specialty now known as Orthopedics in Southwest Florida. Those features focus upon:
- Orthopedic Surgery — specifically the art and science of hip and knee replacement
- The normal hip and knee joints – their unique anatomy and function
- The development of the artificial hip -- replacement prothesis examples
- The development of the artificial knee – Total Knee Replacement Procedure
- A tribute to Dr. John B. Fenning – His Fort Myers Practice and Innovations
Examples of hip and knee prosthetics as well as storyboards and QR codes are organized to show visual objects and historical anecdotes that describe pioneering innovations for hip and knee replacement.
